Compliance Levels
Based on an organization's policies and practices, one of the following levels of compliance will be assigned to each enterprise. This information would be in the public domain. By promoting transparency, the initiative aims at generating a democratic and open process whereby consumers, workers and all affected parties will be able to communicate their views and feedback on this platform, based on complete disclosure of information.
Level 1
Achieved when the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization sends us a personal, written communication confirming acceptance and commitment to these norms, and allows authorized representatives of SAN5000 to visit the workplaces for assessment, and if necessary, training.
Level 2
Achieved when facilitators of SAN5000 have visited the organization and confirmed that the objectives are being met, and norms are being adhered to. An agreed plan will also be put in place for further training and dialogue, and periodic reviews.
Level 3
Achieved when the organization has effectively implemented steps to ensure that the SAN5000 norms are also being adhered to by all their upstream suppliers of all raw materials and inputs. All claims will be vetted by SAN5000 Facilitators.
Level 4
Achieved when the organization takes on the mantle of leadership in actively promoting the SAN5000 norms in their community, their industry, and their region, thus propagating a mind-set of ‘higher productivity and improved efficiency through social accountability and responsibility'. The compliance will be confirmed by a SAF Executive, and where applicable - local social and non-government organizations.
